About

This 1-hour professional development training examines how everyday teaching interactions can either promote independence or unintentionally increase dependence and stress. Participants will learn to recognize over-prompting, avoid power struggles, implement trauma-informed prompting and fading strategies, and respond to refusal in ways that preserve client dignity while supporting meaningful skill acquisition. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to: Define learned helplessness in instructional settings. Identify over-prompting patterns. Use trauma-informed prompting and fading strategies. Respond to refusal without escalating power struggles. PDU Requirements This training provides 1 hour of professional development for RBTs. To receive PDU documentation, participants must complete the required training content, achieve at least 80% on the knowledge check, and submit the PDU Completion Information form at the end of the program.
