Viewing Behavior Through a Trauma-Informed Lens | RBT PDU

This 1-hour professional development training examines behavior through a trauma-informed lens while maintaining the principles of behavior analysis. Trauma doesn't change the principles of behavior analysis; it changes the context in which behavior occurs. RBTs will learn how trauma can influence observable behavior, challenge common misconceptions about "noncompliance," strengthen ABC observations through a trauma-informed perspective, and communicate about behavior using respectful, compassionate, and objective language. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to: Explain how trauma history can influence observable behavior. Distinguish between “willful noncompliance” and trauma-related responses. Identify trauma-informed interpretations of common challenging behaviors. Apply trauma-informed thinking during ABC data collection. Demonstrate language shifts that reflect compassion and clinical neutrality. PDU Requirements This training provides 1 hour of professional development for RBTs. To receive PDU documentation, participants must complete the required training content, achieve at least 80% on the knowledge check, and submit the PDU Completion Information form at the end of the program.
